NEKOJIRU / “CAT SOUP”

This page is for the works of Nekojiru (Chiyomi Hashiguchi), a Japanese manga artist. Her surreal and often crude themes with cats as the main characters began to appeal to the general public and experienced a surge in popularity during the mid to late 1990s.

Some of Nekojiru's more famous works are Nekojiru Gekijo (ねこぢる劇場) and Nekojiru Sō (ねこぢる草), which feature the family of two white cats—Nyāko (the older sister) and Nyatta (the younger brother). Her other works are Nekojiru Udon (ねこぢるうどん), Nekogamisama ((ねこ神さま, Cat God), Nekojiru Manjū (ねこぢるまんじゅう), Nekojiru Dango (ねこぢるだんご), Nekojiru Shokudo (ねこぢる食堂, Nekojiru Cafeteria), Nekojiru Senbei (ねこぢるせんべい), Jirujiru Ryokōki (ぢるぢる旅行記, Jirujiru Travel Journal), and Jirujiru Nikki (ぢるぢる日記, Jirujiru Diary). She was also an illustrator and character designer for other projects.

On May 10, 1998, Chiyomi Hashiguchi died by suicide. Her husband Yamano Hajime (using the pen-name Nekojiru-y) took over Nekojiru's world, and continues to produce new works.

NEKOJIRU・[OFFICIAL] MANGAS

A couple of Nekojiru's works can be found on amazon.co.jp, two of those being ねこぢる大全 上 (文春デジタル漫画館) and ねこぢる大全 下 (文春デジタル漫画館)... these are supposedly her complete works. There's also a comic series by her husband Nekojiru-y, titled "おばけアパート 前編 (TH COMIC SERIES)".

These were converted into compressed archives from Kindle using Calibre.

NEKOJIRU・[OFFICIAL] OTHER MEDIA

Most people probably aren't aware of the CD-ROMs that are available, which feature various characters from the Nekojiru series and mangas. A list of these can be found on this website, including many other works. I currently own NEKOJIRU SEAL STUDIO, NEKOJIRU UDON 2, and DESKTOP CHARACTER CAT GOD, which I've shared below for anyone to download and enjoy!

In all of the folders is additional data I've extracted with this program, along with the box cover art for each respective game. In NEKOJIRU SEAL STUDIO I included a folder of modified frames from the game where I took the green backgrounds from them and made them transparent.
